The type of Virtual Machine I am creating is 6.x, VMware Fusuib 1.x, Player 2.x, ACE 2.x. The shared folder can be accessed from the server (using my admin account as well) The shared folder has 500GB available, and the server is only 17 GB. The destination (it only lets me select Other Virtual Machine) is a shared folder on my machine. Also, it is the same account I used with version 4. The account I am using to connect to the remote server is a domain administrator group member, so it should be good. Possible causes include not having any NTFS volumes on Windows XP or Windows 2003 source systems, It fails at 2 % withġ0:43:44 AM ERROR: Failed to take snapshot of a source volume. I would really like to convert this server since I have 3 with the same hardware, so i am expecting this problem to pop up with the other 2 as well.Ĭontinuum, I tried the 3.0.3 version. This is my first conversion, and it is not looking good. I did not change the settings on the Data to copy. When I searched this error it seemed that it can be because of the controller drivers, and I tried both, the buslogic and LSI logic with no success. The 97% convertion also fails to boot as well, with error 0x0000007b Inaccessible_boot_device. If I do the import without running "Reconfigure destination virtual machine" (sysprep) at the end, it ends the convertionsuccesfully, but of course it fails to boot. Which should be a great test machine since it will not use a lot of resources on the vmware server (powerEdge 2950) The machine is an old Compaq ProLiant D元80 G2. The disk is 16.95 GB, with a 36 MB FAT (EISA Configuration), then a M drive NTFS of 11.6GB, and 5.32 GB unallocated. It reads the disk 0 as SCSI (Port:2 Target ID: 4, LUN:0). I am guessing the problem seems to be the RAID controller. It is the secondary server of a Citrix Metaframe farm (2 of 2), and the hard drive is M, not C. This is a production server, so I don't want to mess it up. The first 5 times I did not have sysprep on my C drive (I thought I needed it on the server) I tried converting this server 8 times so far.
